Review
One giant SQUEEE! of glee when I received this in my email from Robin Brande herself, and so I set to work reading it.
I read this in one sitting and I'm still smiling about it a few hours later as I type this. Robin Brande is a fantastic author, one you can always count on for a book that will make you smile. Each character is beautifully brought to life on the pages and despite the awkwardness that is Riley, you feel for her and are cheering for her (and especially for her dogs!). The whole cast (ha! a pun) is a colorful mix, from the director Danny to the stars of the show, Madison and Brett and the rest, including a very cute Nate the cameraman, the frantic costumer Beverly and the very confusing antics of the whole drama crew.
I loved every bit of this book. The romance was subtle and doesn't overdo the plot at all (as it always is with Brande, which I like) and believable and ... the dogs! The dogs! I'm more of a cat person but I loved these dogs. Riley struggles with people and the dogs are the perfect helpers: Fig nudges her to become closer to someone else and Jack and Heidi make friends of their own with other cast members, causing Riley to open up just a little bit more. The dogs are integral to the plot and to the play and it never seemed over the top.
This book is another example of a feel-good book that you can curl up with your own dog to read. It's all heart.
Received through Robin Brande's website.
Sounds great! I have never heard of this author or book before, so thanks for putting it on my radar!
